Kessel Run Icelandic Sheepdogs
Grand Rapids, MI
About
We are a small hobby breeder of Icelandic Sheepdogs located in Grand Rapids Michigan. We are committed to providing, quality AKC Icelandic Sheepdog puppies to the wonderful world of West Michigan and beyond! We breed to better the quality of dogs in the world, and to preserve our beloved breed. Our adult Icelandic sheepdogs are wonderful family companions and sport dogs. We make it a point to ensure that they are titled and health tested, before breeding. Our dogs are all apart of our family and live in our home, they are my constant shadows. All puppies are also raised inside our home and handled and adored daily! We raise our puppies using puppy culture and Avidog programs to ensure they have the best possible start to life.
Even though I am a small hobby breeder, I am Proud to be a Preservation Breeder and an AKC Breeder of Merit for Icelandic Sheepdogs. I have been a member of the Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America (ISAA) for 10 years. I have always participated in the ISAA approved breeder program by following all required health testing.
I got my first Icelandic 9 1/2 years ago, Vinlands Leifur "Lee Lee". He became my first conformation show dog and my love. He was the first AKC Silver and Gold Grand Champion of the breed. He has been awarded a Select at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog show and an Award if Merit at the AKC National Dog Show. He also earned 33 group placements. Thanks to Lee, I am hooked on showing and breeding lovely, healthy, sweet dogs.
Our puppies are hand raised in our home with love and lots of socialization. Our litters are of an average litter size of anywhere from 2-5 puppies. Our litters can very in color from black tri, brown tri, gold, red, cream and wolf sable (grey sable). We OFA hips, elbows and eyes. We have all clear eyes, normal elbows and good or excellent hips. We pray we keep it that way.
Icelandics are a wonderfully sweet breed who love people and other animals. They do need lots of socialization to keep that wonderful temperament. We require at least one puppy obedience class and suggest you and your puppy work to warm a Canine Good Citizenship title with AKC. Just good fun and excellent bonding.

I am committed to raising good tempered healthy pups with good conformation, while trying to
increase the diversity within the breed. I consider myself a steward of this breed, not just an owner.
I am a lifetime member of the ISAA, I follow the AKC standard and my breed clubs breeding
guidelines, health test my dogs and register them with the AKC to insure the health and future of the
breed. I support the efforts of the country of origin to keep the breed a healthy, good tempered
working dog.
